so the end of my ISP ended really well. I did a homestay for a month with a family, did my research project, and got first place in the program! so that was cool. Right before leaving, we spent 3 nights in the San Blas islands with the Kuna Yala indigenous tribe which was sickk. it was definitely the prettiest place I have ever been, the water was so clear and amazing. It was great although I got super sun burnt. we got drunk everynight and skinny dipped lolz and did the cinnamon roll in the water -__- we also saw bioluminescence in the water! it was sweet. our director drank with us which was fun. overall an awesome last few days. on the last night we went to a Mexican restaurant for our last meal together and then went out. it was so sad to say bye but I am so happy that I met these people and grew so close to them. they left the next day and I left a luggage at my host family’s house and i’ll come back to get it at the end of the program. on the 12th, elise flew into panama city! I picked her up at the airport and we went to Lunas Castle, a gianttttt hostel that’s soooo sick. we stayed in a room with nick. we walked around casco Viejo which is so beautiful.
that day liz, nick, elise and I walked around the markets. a really hilarious thing that happened is that a few kids stole something from a rachet ass mentaly ill man who started chasing them and as he chased them we were accidently in his way and he raised his stick up to our faces and I actuall ythought I was about to get knocked. it was really funny when we thought about it after. we spent the next few days in panama city which was nice and on Monday night we took an overnight bus to Bocas del Toro. Elise naturally got carsick and threw up in the bathroom hahaha and we got to Bocas yesterday. We stayed in Tungara overnight. That day we went on a bike ride along the coast and just kept finding beaches to swim in. it was sooo nice, the weather was perfect and the bike ride was just amazing. we found a coconut, cracked it open, and drank the juice from it. I also was able to swim naked because barely anyone was there :)
that night we went to la iguana for a bit to have a beer and it was reggae night (like every night). we were sitting by the dock having a beer and we saw fish and squids swimming by which was sweet. we knew we had to get up early tho so we left around 12 for our hostel. oh and that day we met this hilarious guy named Jack Sparrow who’s an old gypsy man who reads palms and does tarot card readings. he read my palm and told me that i’m dominant, I fight a lot, and i’m ‘spicy’ because I’m latina. he says I need to control my dominance (lol.. accurate). he says I don’t trust anybody (inaccurate) and that i’m going to fall in love in August. He also said I’m going to have two twin girls. we’ll see.. haha. we saw him again that night after I got a hair wrap (rasta colors obvi) and he was like yooo whats up man and shook my hand and then hes like ‘yo can I have ten cents’ lol so I gave him ten cents and he walked away, then I see him 10 minutes later walking by and nomming on an ice cream cone. he’s so funny. we saw him again today and he did tarot card readings for us. he told me that I should be careful with how I spend my money and be careful with sex? don’t really know what that means. He also told me that my dad is a positive energy in my life which is weird because today is my dads birthday! he also ended up telling us he has stomach cancer. he’s my boy, I really like him and I know i’ll see him around.
it’s also funny because this island is so small that I keep seeing people that I met last time. I’ve already seen 3 of the guys that I met last time. today I went on a boat ride and saw a shit ton of dolphins. we were supposed to snorkel but it rained, so I came back to the island and had lunch with nick and elise and chilled with J Sparrow. On the boat though we met some really cool Spanish guys, one who lives in Nicaragua now. It was a great morning and afternoon. Now i’m at the hostel (staying at a new one) and tonight we are going out to Aqua Lounge and then to Barco Undido. I’m excited because Barco Undido is merengue, salsa, and bachata night! so hopefully elise will learn how to latin dance. tomorrow my friend on the island is taking us out on his boat and we’re going to the beach. we’re gonna go ziplining at one point too. everything is so damn cheeeeeeeap.
